Subtle Space #1 & #2 and Things that keep me up at night and the illusionists door (projection piece)
I was asked to participate in an exhibition in Arnhem at gallery Epix. After seeing the exhibition space I came up with the idea of replacing the shoe moulds with a shoe mould that would sprad light from underneath itself. Thereby the work should evoke an idea of a space behind the wall.
This idea came forth of the work the illusionists door, made in 2010.
This work became so subtle that a lot of visitors wouldn't notice it at all, because of the rest of the exhibition. But therefore if you would notice I hoped it grasped your mind with questions about what was happening behind the wall.

Along with Subtle Space #1 & #2, the work Things that keep me up at night was created.
This work, consisted of the same elements together with a stain of paint that seemed to be coming out of the shoe mould. Also the positioning of this work in a small cubicle that was half darkened made the suggestion of space stronger and gave the work a less subtle character.

Together with these site-specific works, I exhibited the projection piece, the illusionists door. This work consists of athe projection of 4 lines that evoke the idea of a door. From behind this projection you hear sounds and see shadows passing by.
